High-Quality Forage: Bachelor Pad™ offers a premium mix of cowpeas, joint vetch, and alyce clover, providing deer with a rich source of high-protein forage essential for muscle and antler development.
Extended Growing Season: This blend is specifically designed for Spring and Summer planting, ensuring that your deer herd has access to nutritious forage during critical growth periods when natural food sources may be scarce.
Improved Herd Health: The diverse range of legumes in Bachelor Pad™ supports overall herd health, enhancing body condition and milk production, which is crucial for fawn development and survival.
Nitrogen Fixation: The inclusion of nitrogen-fixing plants improves soil fertility by adding valuable nitrogen back into the soil, reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers and promoting sustainable land management.
Cost-Effective: By enriching the soil and reducing the need for additional fertilizers, Bachelor Pad™ offers a cost-effective solution for maintaining productive food plots throughout the growing season.
Enhanced Attractiveness: Deer are naturally drawn to the lush, palatable forage produced by this blend, ensuring frequent visits to your food plots and improving your chances of observing and managing your deer herd effectively.
Early Season Hunting Success: This blend will grow until the first frost, so it can serve as a super attractive early season food plot to hunt over.
1. Preparation: Clear the planting area of debris, weeds, and any existing vegetation to create a clean seedbed.
2. Soil Testing: Conduct a soil test to determine pH and nutrient levels. Adjust the soil pH to 6.0-7.0 using lime if necessary. Apply appropriate fertilizers based on the soil test results.
3. Seed Rate:
- Broadcasting: Spread Bachelor Pad™ seed at a rate of 50 lbs per acre.
- Drilling: Use a seed drill to plant at a rate of 30 lbs per acre for more precise placement and better seed-to-soil contact.
4. Planting Depth: Ensure seeds are planted at a depth of 1/4 to 1/2 inch. If broadcasting, lightly rake or drag the area to cover the seeds with soil.
5. Timing: Plant Bachelor Pad™ in the Spring or early Summer when soil temperatures reach at least 60°F for optimal germination and growth.
6. Moisture: Ensure the soil is adequately moist during the planting process. Water the area if there has been insufficient rainfall to help seeds establish.
7. Maintenance: Monitor the plot regularly for weed competition and manage as necessary. Ensure consistent moisture through rainfall or irrigation to support growth.
